Western Region launches volleyball league

The Western Region Volleyball Association has launched its maiden regional league aimed at unearthing talented and skillful players for selection into national teams.

At the launch, Reverend (Dr) Perry Pearce-Pearson, Chairman of the association, said the league will commence on September 21.

He said the competition seeks to whip up interest in volleyball and foster unity among the teams.

Teams to compete in the men’s division are Blue Sharks of the Western Naval Command, Fire Engineers of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Airforce Stars of the Takoradi Airforce Station.

The rest are Borotah, Dream Team, Golden Fingers and TNA of Tarkwa.

The women’s division will be constituted by Blue Sharks, Westside Ladies and the Tarkwa Gold Ladies.
