President John Dramani Mahama on Friday commended Ghanaians for the endurance and patience they exhibited during the election petition at the Supreme Court.

“Let me take this opportunity to thank all of you for your patience and for resorting to the court and not other paths that had been charted by other African countries,” he said.

President Mahama gave the commendation when he joined Muslims at the Kasoa Central Mosque to thank God for emerging victorious in the Supreme Court election petition.

He was accompanied by Alhaji Collins Dauda, Minister of Water Resource, Works and Housing, Alhaji Ahmed Mustapha, Minister of State, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress among other officials.

President Mahama also lauded the leadership of the New Patriotic Party for resorting to the constitutional means of settling the dispute.

On the development of Kasoa, he said government had planned a number of projects for the municipality, which would be rolled out for soon.

He appealed to Ghanaians to bury their political differences and support government to smoothly execute development projects.

Alhaji Hussein Kumbo, Chairman of the ethnic chiefs at the Awutu-Senya East Municipality, appealed to President Mahama to provide a hospital for the area as the health centres had been over stretched by the growing population.

He asked for the establishment of a police station to stem the high rate of crime in the area.
