GHALCA partners SSNIT for players welfare

ssnitThe Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) has partnered the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) towards securing the welfare of players and officials.

The move is to get football clubs sign-up onto the scheme to ensure the future of players and officials are well catered for.

GHALCA, the welfare body of football clubs in the country at its Congress on Thursday highlighted on the importance their members stood to benefit by hooking onto the scheme.

Alhaji Ali Raji, Chairman of GHALCA urged members to join the scheme and make contributions on behalf of their clients (players and officials), so they can resort to it upon retirement.

He assured that his outfit will develop a modus operandi to make sure their members register onto the scheme within the shortest possible time.

Ms Evangeline Amegashie, Corporate Affairs Manager of SSNIT, outlined the significance of signing unto the scheme for sportsmen especially footballers.

She said the scheme seeks to provide support for sportsmen whose career is cut short due to injuries and unexpected incidents amongst others.

Also discussed at the congress were the audited accounts of the welfare body as well as other issues related to the development of the game.

Sixty (60) members were present at the congress, the first ever in three years.
