Nkoranza increases health insurance users

stethoscopeThe management of Nkoranza District Health Insurance Scheme has registered about 20,181 people, including children from some deprived communities.

In addition, schools in these communities are benefiting from the School Feeding Programme.

Mr Kingsford Opoku-Gyamfi, Manager of the Scheme, told the GNA at Nkoranza that the exercise formed part of the Scheme’s mandate to ensure that the poor and vulnerabl were offered free medical care.

He said the exercise was to complement government’s efforts in providing the children with free school uniforms, food and health care.

He said 99,880 people made up of 45,331 men and 54,549 women had been registered by the end of July this year.

Mr Samuel Adu-Poku, Public Relations Officer of the Scheme, said the registration was at its peak during harvesting season when family heads register their members after harvesting and sale of their produce.
