Ghana StartUP Cup begins

ICT_InternetThe maiden edition of Ghana StartUP Cup business model competition to help grow viable businesses and enhance entrepreneurial ecosystems has been held in Accra.

The Ghana StartUp Cup is an accredited member of the global network of locally driven business model competition opened to any type of business idea.

It is a model to build feasible businesses, nurture employment and increase entrepreneurial settings.

Speaking at the launch of the event Mr Emmanuel Nyame, Chairman of the Ghana StartUp Cup, said participants in the business model competition are required to design a viable business model, develop customers and accelerate their start-ups into the marketplace through a comprehensive six-month judging, coaching, and mentoring process.

He disclosed that the competition would arm entrepreneurs with skills which would propel them from the ground to the highest levels in business and urged the Ghanaian community to support the diverse entrepreneurial climate.

Mr Francis Appiah, Head of Corporate Finance, Liberty Capital Holdings Ghana Ltd, commended the organizers of the competition saying “we take great pride to be associated with such an innovative venture to unearth, nurture and support young entrepreneurs to become successful”.

Mr Thomas Chen of the US Embassy, Ghana expressed the embassy’s satisfaction as a partner to help develop and sharpen the skills of budding entrepreneurs.

Lecticia Browne, Investor Relations of the Ghana Angel Investor Network (GAIN), urged participants to take the opportunity offered seriously.
