Spare driver injures two at Kaneshie

accidentTwo persons seriously got injured when a “spare” driver of a 207 vehicle with registration number GT 1596 F moving at top speed climb the pavement and run into a shop at the Kaneshie Lorry Station at about 1530 hours on Sunday.

One of the victims whose name was given as Abu is a footwear dealer at the Station and the other victim, believed to be in his late 60s, was said to be buying something when the accident occurred.

Mr Yaw Owusu an eye-witness at the scene told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the original driver took the victims in another vehicle to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital soon after the accident.

The driver, who caused the accident, absconded when he was asked to give money for the treatment of the victims.

Meanwhile, Police at the Kaneshie Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) had towed the vehicle from the accident scene.

Mr Bright Duku Kaakyire, Police Officer from the MTTU Department, has assured that further investigation would be carried out and promised to get hold of the absconded driver.
