TUC assures workers of better salary negotiation

cediMr Kofi Asamoah, Secretary General of the Ghana Trades Union Congress (TUC), has assured workers of better salary negotiation with the government.

He gave the assurance in an interview with Ghana News Agency (GNA) after addressing a five-day basic trade union education for women and youth leaders in Koforidua.

Mr Asamoah said the TUC would take into consideration the frequent increases in fuel prices which had culminated in high cost of living in its bargaining with the government.

He therefore appealed to organized labour to continue to have confidence in the leadership of the TUC and remain calm whiles they engaged government on better base pay.

Mr Asamoah urged the government to check gross mismanagement that had characterized the public sector compensation system in recent times.

He said revelations from the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) and Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) were sufficient evidence of mismanagement challenges with the public purse, and urged the government to urgently bring perpetrators to book.

Mr Asamoah urged Ghanaians to remain calm whiles waiting for the Supreme Court verdict on the 2012 election petition.

He urged parties to educate their supporters to accept the outcome.
