Tarkwa market women mourn Late President Mills

market1Market women at the Tarkwa Central and Women’s Markets, both at Tarkwa on Wednesday wore mourning attire to express their sorrow in remembrance of the death of President John Evans Atta Mills, which occurred a year ago.

Madam Mary Mensah, a trader at the Tarkwa Central market, said though the authorities of the Tarkwa Nsueam Assembly did not put in place any programme to mark the event, they decided to celebrate the day in honor of President Mills because he was born at Nzemaline, a suburb of Tarkwa.

Madam Mensah expressed hope that the entire nation would remain calm and united, especially when the 2012 Election petition is pending at the Supreme Court.

Ghana News Agency visited the house where the late President was born at Nzemaline and met Mr. Joseph Kwasi Yankson, abusuapanin of Azunwle family, who lived with the President’s family at the time of his birth.

Mr Yankson said when President Mills died, the Tarkwa Nsueam Municipal Assembly painted the Azunwle family house and worked on the road leading to the premises.

He said the Assembly further promised to construct the road and rehabilitate the house to make it a place of attraction for all, but the project has not been executed.

Mr Yankson appealed to Assembly to fulfill its’ promise in memory of the late President.
