Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa finally approves DCE nominee

voterThe Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (AOB) Assembly on Sunday approved the nomination of Mr Samuel Adom Botchway for the position of District Chief Executive for the area.

He polled 38 votes of the total 45 votes it a special meeting at Breman Asikuma, representing 84.44 percent in an election conducted by the AOB District Electoral Officials, led by Mr Gabriel Dowuna Hammond, District Electoral Officer.

At the first meeting ten days ago, the nominee failed to obtain the two-thirds majority required for his confirmation.

Mr Botchway thanked the members for endorsing him and promised not abuse the confidence reposed in him.

He appealed to the members to bury their differences and forge together for the growth and development of the District.

Mrs Queenstar Pokuwaa Sawyer, Deputy Central Regional Minister, who acted as DCE for the area, commended the Assembly members for confirming the nominee.

Mr Samuel Sarpong, Central Regional Minister, who graced the occasion, thanked the members for having a change of mind to confirm the President’s Nominee.

The Minister earlier condemned the behaviour of some youth who besieged the premises of Assembly building in support of the DCE leading to an assault on an individual.

Before the elections, 10 new government appointees, made up of three females and seven males were sworn in by Mr Clement Kwesi Asomah, AOB District Magistrate, who also superintended the swearing ceremony of the approved DCE.
