Members of the Suhum Municipal Assembly on Friday rejected Mr Samuel Fleischer-Kwabi, the President’s nominee as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, at a special meeting held at Suhum.

Mr Fleischer-Kwabi polled 22 out of the 40 votes cast representing 55 percent.

The election was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), led by the Eastern Regional Director, Mr Paul Boateng.

Earlier in an address, Osabarima Ayeh Kofi, Chief of Suhum, said he personally appealed to President John Dramani Mahama, to re-nominate Mr Fleischer-Kwabi as the MCE of the area since he had brought a lot of development to the area.

He said every chief would want development in his area for the betterment of the people and therefore re-commended the MCE for re-nomination to help bring more developmental projects to the area.

Osabarima Kofi observed that since the MCE assumed office during his first term, he had a lot of developmental projects to his credit, saying, “Suhum has changed from bad to good and everyone can attest to that fact”.

Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong also said the President acknowledged the hard work of Mr Fleischer-Kwabi and urged the gathered Assembly members to confirm him.

She reminded them of the need to have a hardworking MCE who would help move the Municipality forward.

Unless the President decides to withdraw his nomination, there will be another voting within 10 days.
