Catholic churches mark 120th anniversary with photo expo in Accra

Photo exhibitions are being held in all Parishes of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra as part of activities to mark its 120th Anniversary.

A release copied to the Ghana News Agency from the office of Very Reverend Francis Adoboli, the Vicar General and Chairman of the 120 anniversary celebration committee, said on July 9, basic schools would engage in the finals of the quiz competition at the Holy Spirit Cathedral.

It said in the month of August, while the Madina Deanery would hold a crusade at Madina, there would be a clean-up exercises and donation of gifts to clinics, hospitals and orphanages by other Deaneries.

The release said August 10, would witness health walk in parishes and deaneries and this would be climaxed with the celebration of the Feast of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the 15th day of the month.

It said another major event to occur within the period is the ordination of 23 Priests at the Holy Spirit Cathedral and this would occur on August 17 followed by special prayers of thanksgiving for the gift of new Priests in the next day.

The Planning Committee has enjoined members to use the 120th Anniversary Cloth in all Parishes adding that the activities for the two months would culminate on August 30 with finals of the youth singing competition at Our Lady of Mercy Senior High School, Tema.
