Eastern Region MTTU arrests 38 drivers
The Eastern Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), on Tuesday arrested 38 drivers for various traffic offences, in a special operation to prevent road accidents in the region.
According to Chief Superintendent (Supt) Samuel Tetteh, the Regional MTTU Commander, the drivers did not have road worthy and insurance certificates, and they also over loaded their vehicles that were moving on worn out tyres.
He appealed to drivers to avoid over speeding, careless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, to avoid carnage on the road.
Chief Supt Tetteh said the MTTU had launched a nationwide campaign against indiscipline on the road, and warned that the police would not tolerate violation of traffic regulations.
