Coca-Cola Foundation provides $36m grants to communities in first quarter 2013

coca-colaThe Coca-Cola Foundation awarded $36 million grants to 105 community organizations during the first quarter of 2013.

The Foundation which is the global philanthropic arm of the Coca-Cola Company awarded the grants to support the Foundation’s global priority areas and the Company’s three-part sustainability approach, focused on enhancing people’s well-being, building strong communities and protecting the environment.

A press release issued June 22, 2013, said during the first quarter, the Foundation awarded $12 million for physical activity and well-being programmes, and $12 million for water stewardship, recycling and environmental programmes.

Adding that, it also awarded $12 million for local priorities and social well-being programmes such as access to education opportunities, youth development, economic empowerment, HIV/AIDS and malaria prevention and other civic initiatives.

Chair of The Coca-Cola Foundation and Vice President of Global Community Connections for the Coca-Cola Company, Lisa M. Borders said, “Through these grants, we have an amazing opportunity to make a real difference for millions of people.”
