Politicians asked to support HIV/AIDS campaign
Mr Bernard Anum, Nkoranza South Municipal HIV/AIDS Focal Person, has asked politicians to support educational campaigns aimed at creating awareness on the disease.
He also asked Ghanaians to avoid stigmatization of People Living With AIDS (PLWA), saying everyone was vulnerable to the disease.
Mr Anum made the call at a meeting of members of HIV/AIDS Committee of the municipality, at Nkoranza, to plan for its activities.
He said the committee members would visit markets, lorry stations, and schools and educate the people on the need to know their HIV/AIDS status, organize talk shows, and distribute condoms to the youth as a way of promoting their use.
Mr Anum said a similar exercise would be undertaken to educated hairdressers and barbers on the disease.
He appealed to financial institutions, organizations, philanthropists and religious bodies to support the committee to enable it to attain its goal.
