The signing of performance contract between the Government and ministers of state is aimed at actualising President John Mahama’s vision.
Mr Felix Kwakye-Ofosu, a Deputy Minister for Information and Media Relations, said the contract seeks to maximize the performance of ministers and other public office holders.

The Deputy Minister, who gave the explanation during the daily media briefings at the Flagstaff House, Kanda, Accra, said the step would enable the citizenry to known the performance of the Government.

Last week, the Government announced the signing of performance contract with ministers, to help whip up their enthusiasm to perform in accordance with the Government’s vision.

The announcement was received with mixed feelings; while critics said it was a political gimmick to throw dust into the eyes of the people, the Government insisted it was the best option to spur the ministers to work hard.

Mr Kwakye-Ofosu said the signing of the contract would make Government transparent and accountable to the people.

He said Government was determined to put in place measures to avoid over-spending or over stretching of the national fiscal budget.

Mr Kwakye-Ofosu   said Government would harmonize programmes to avoid duplication and wastage that hampered the national budget.

The Deputy Minister said President Mahama was keen at seeing structural and institutional reforms in presentations by sector ministers

He appealed to stakeholders to support the initiative to enhance the implementation of the President’s vision.
