Driver jailed 12 years for defilement

prisonA driver, who could not control his sexual urge and ended up subjecting an under-aged girl to bouts of sex, has found himself in trouble with the law.

For 12 years, Dominic Antwi alias “Bagasman” would be languishing in jail as punishment.

He had pleaded guilty to charges of indecent assault and defilement when he appeared before a Kumasi Circuit Court presided over by Mrs Rita Agyeman-Budu.

Police Chief Inspector Rose Essuman told the court that the offence was committed on May 27, at about 1430 hours, at Anwomaso in Kumasi.

He said the victim, 15, was sent to deliver some items to a teacher and had joined a mini-bus driven by the convict.

Midway through the journey, Antwi engaged her in a conversation, lured her to his house and sexually abused her.

The prosecution said he later sent her away with GH¢10.00.

The victim could not keep the painful experience to herself and broke the bad news to the teacher, and a formal report was subsequently made to the police.

Doctors, who medically examined her in a signed report, confirmed that she had been defiled.

Antwi had earlier in his caution statement confessed to the crime.
