NCCE promotes malaria prevention

mosquitoThe National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) has organized public awareness and sensitization programmes on malaria prevention for some institutions and communities in the Jomoro District.

The programme was aimed at reducing malaria cases in the country to the barest minimum and eliminating the disease in future.

Mr. Albert Awuah, Assistant Civic Education Officer at the Jomoro District Office of the NCCE, said malaria had now become more dreadful than the deadly HIV/AIDS in the country.

He said some people did not go to health facilities for treatment because of financial constraints and that often resulted in untimely deaths and advised against self medication.

Mrs. Salomey Manteaw, a Principal Civic Education Officer at the NCCE headquarters, advised the public against taking drugs prescribed for others when they fell sick.

She said they should go to a medical facility to avoid compounding their health problems and added that people should also avoid going to prayer camps and traditional healers for treatment.

Similar programmes were organized at the Annor Adjaye Senior High School (SHS) at Ezinlibo, Mount Moria SHS, Elubo and Jaway Wharf.
