BECE begins nationwide

PupilsJunior High Schools across the nation on Monday began this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E).

A tour of some examination centres by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) revealed that the examination started peacefully and orderly.

Some of the centres visited include Martyrs of Uganda Basic School, Korle Gonno Cluster of Schools, and Evangelical Presby Basic Schools at Mamprobi.

Mr Franklyn Fenukunu, B.E.C.E Supervisor at Martyrs of Uganda Basic School told the GNA that the West Africa Examination Council (WEAC) officials were prompt on delivering materials at the centre.

Mr Fenukunu said a total of 403 candidates registered to write the exams at the centre but one student was absent.

Miss Priscilla Odoi, a candidate, told the GNA that the first paper was a success for her and that her fears about the exams had been allayed.

The GNA was however unable to speak with officials at the Korle Gonno Cluster of Schools, and Evangelical Presby Basic Schools as they were still writing at the time of the visit.
