West Akyem Municipal Assembly re-elects Presiding Member

The incumbent Presiding Member (PM) of the West Akyem Municipal Assembly, Mr Timpo Ofori Moses, was on Friday re-elected for the position after two rounds of voting.

In the first round, 17 members voted against him, whilst he secured the support of 26 members but needed 31 votes to be elected.

In the second round however, Mr Moses got the nod from 36 members of the assembly to retain the seat.

The assembly has 47 members.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Moses thanked members for the confidence reposed in him and called for their support in order to move the municipality forward.

Mr George Mensah Akpalo, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) thanked the assembly members for a smooth election.

He observed that the election of a PM in some districts assemblies had become a bone of contention, to the extent that it was held a number of times without anyone emerging victorious.

He said in West Akyem such a situation had never been part of their tradition all because of the understanding of members.

He thanked the members for the successful election, saying that, it had helped to save previous resources.
