Father arrested for hiding fugitive sons

arrestedMohamed Belo Gyimah, a 58 year old father of two members of a gang suspected to have murdered one Kwadwo Asamoah alias “Gawusu” at Ashtown in Kumasi in May 8, 2013, has been arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.

He was arrested together with his two wanted sons, Maama Lawal, 19 and Abdul Aziz Illiasu, 17 at “Papa Mahama Jumah Kura” a village near Subin in the Upper Denkyira West of the Central region.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Mr Augustine Gyening, Ashanti Regional Police Commander disclosed this at a press briefing in Kumasi on Friday.

He said another suspect, Umoro Farouk, alias “Seaman,” who was also at Gyimah’s residence with the two, managed to escape but was later arrested at Mbrom, where he was hiding.

Three others; Sheila Boakye, Hadi Awudu and Yaw Boakye alias “Aliki,” have also been arrested to assist in police investigations whilst yet another one only named as “Awukye” the prime suspect in the case is still at large.

In another development, two suspects; Yaw Wiafe, alias “Azure” and Joana Acheampong were arrested by the Command in connection with the death of one Prince Opoku Antoh, who was gunned down by suspected robbers at the Jack City Pub at Dichemso recently.

They have all been sent to the Homicide Unit of the police in Accra to continue with the probing.

The Buffalo Unit of the Command has also grabbed one Iddrisu Mohammed Suraj for being part of a high-way robbery gang on a section of the Kumasi-Tepa road in the Ashanti Region.

He mentioned his accomplices as Baba Musah, Wasuru Baba Sarichi, Issah Pozo and Richie, who are all on the run but the police say they are on their heels and will surely bring them to face jus
