GES to distribute shoes to deprived schools

The Assin North Municipal Education Office will distribute 1,243 canvas shoes to six deprived schools in the Assin Praso circuit of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

According to Mr Phil Alex Amua-Baidoo, Assin North Municipal Director of Education, said the shoes were donated by Nana Pra Agyensem VI, Omanhene of Owirenkyi Traditional Area.

He said Bright Generation Community, a Non-Governmental Organization in Kumasi, gave the shoes to Nana Agyensem as a gift.

The beneficiary schools are Assin Kushea Methodist and Anglican Primary, Kushea Ninkyiso Anglican, Assin Bremang MA Primary, Asaman MA Primary and Achiano MA Primary.

The distribution, however, began on Wednesday atAssin Kushea Methodist and Anglican school where the Assistant Headmaster and Headmistress, Mr Issac Mintah and Ms Nancy Hammond respectively, received the shoes.

Pupils in the nursery to primary six received a pair each.

Mr Amua-Baidoo said the distribution would continue until the remaining four schools received their share.

He said he was grateful to Madam Dapaah for the gesture and thanked Nana Agyensem for assisting the children to make life more comfortable for them.
