Youth group kicks against removal of Bolgatanga MCE

A group calling itself the Concerned Citizens of Bolgatanga have condemned the agitation of some groups in the municipality demanding the removal of Mr Edward Ayiriba Ayagle, Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive.

A statement signed by the leader of the group, Mr Peter Adongo and four members including Mr Peter Ayeti, Mr Paul Azuure and Jeremiah Alonga, said the group agitation was orchestrated by some individuals seeking their personal benefits.

The Concerned Citizens, who described the agitation and accusation leveled against the MCE as unfounded, said since he took over from his predecessor in 2011 the municipality had recorded unprecedented developments.

The statement said:“Having taken over the mantle of leadership, he quickly restored regular supply of fuel and repaired sanitation vehicles which hitherto had not been the case. To further demonstrate his commitment in tackling the sanitation problem facing the municipality, he established a Development Control Taskforce to resolve the problem”

It said the MCE also followed up to ensure that the Bolgatanga Market, completed in 2007, got proper documentation to make it a bonafide property of the Assembly.

The statement said the MCE had been able to woo three investors into the municipality namely the Allied Bank, Unity Bank and Melcom Ghana.

”We are confident that with these initiatives, these investor groups will open up the Bolgatanga Municipality and provide business opportunities and employment to the youth in the area.”

The municipality,  the statement said, had also witnessed improvements in its road networks, completion of school projects, construction of drainage systems, clinics, toilets, shaping and re-shipping of feeder roads under the leadership of the MCE.

It said with the tremendous achievements and good human relations of the MCE, it would be untrue to say that the MCE did not have good working relationships with party executives and technocrats.

“It is our hope and wish that His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, can continue to count and rely on such a selfless, dedicated, down-to-earth and devoted person in the delivery of the Better Ghana Agenda for the overall betterment of the Bolgatanga Municipality, the region and the nation as a whole,” the statement said.

We urge those agitating to desist from the negative practice and partner the MCE for the sake of development, it said.
