Man jailed 10 years for defiling 12-year-old girl

The Kumasi-based Gender Court presided over by Mrs Rita Agyemang Budu, has sentenced a driver’s mate to 10 years imprisonment for defilement.

Richard Adomako, alias “Kwaku Gyemi” denied the offence but was pronounced guilty after trial.

Police Chief Inspector Philip Yao Bebli told the court that the crime was committed on October 16, last year, at about 2100 hours at Bedasi near Pekyi Number One.

The victim, 12, lives with the parents but sleeps with his younger brother in a different house where Adomako also stays.

The minor had returned from evening classes and the convict after playing a trick on her, gagged and sexually abused her.

A friend of the victim run to inform one of the tenants and the alarm was raised.

Adomako managed to slip through and a report was made to the Police. A medical report confirmed that she was defiled.

The convict was arrested after about a month in hiding.
