We need new image – Board Chair of Lands Commission tells workers

Housing_PopulationNana Adjei Ampofo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Lands Commission, has advised workers of the institution to desist from fraud to give it a new image.

He cautioned the workers to desist from falsification, defacing and alteration of records, to erase the public perception that the Commission engages in corruption.

Nana Ampofo, who gave the advice at the opening of a five-day annual review workshop of the Commission at Elmina in the Central Region, asked the workers to restore public confidence in the institution.

It was attended by all regional heads and senior staff of the Commission.

Nana Ampofo cautioned that any worker of the Commission who might be caught indulging in fraudulent deals would be handed over to the Police,     saying “we have to give the Commission a new identity”.

He called on the Police to work with the Commission in curbing activities of land guards in the country.

Nana Ampofo said the Commission was demolishing structures constructed on authorized places, and appealed to workers to cooperate with those tasked to carry out the exercise.

Dr Wilfred K. Anim-Odame, Acting Executive Secretary at the Lands Commission, said the workshop was to take stock of performance of the Commission, encourage peer review process, identify clients’ needs and to plan for the future.

He said the Commission needed office accommodation, adding that since portion of the headoffice of the institution got burnt in 2007, it has not been reconstructed.

Mr Anim-Odame said the Commission also needed vehicles, computers and funds to facilitate administrative work.
