Kotoko beats Hearts in historic retired players friendly

footballRetired players of Asante Kotoko trounced Hearts of Oak 3-1 in a friendly at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on Sunday.

The game aimed at raising funds for charity and also contribute towards the welfare of the retired players saw Kotoko register all their goals in the first half with Isaac Boakye hitting a brace in the 20th and 42nd minutes, while Godwin Ablorddey  also found target in the 27th minute.

Hearts, however, was the first to score as Ayittey Dormon took on the Kotoko defence to slot home in ninth minutes.

The second half of the game was not all that competitive as most of the players looked tired, reducing incursions for the needed goals.

In spite of this, the likes of Mohammed Polo dazzled the crowd with their dribbling skills.

Other players who featured for Hearts included Emmanuel Armah “Senegal”, Sam “Foyoo” Johnson, Jacob Nettey, Ishmael Addo, Amankwaah Mireku, Yaw Preko, Joe Addo and Ablade Kumah.

Kofi Abbrey, Prince Polley, Mohammed Odoom, Frimpong Manso, Odartey Lamptey, Isaac Kwakye, Isaac Boakye, Olli Rahman, Godwin Ablorddey, Gariba Ibrahim, Hamza Mohammed and among others also featured for Kotoko.
