Two traders remanded in police custody

prisonAn Accra circuit court on Friday remanded Moses Adom and Collins Opoku, both traders, in police custody for allegedly possessing a substance suspected to be Indian hemp.

The accused persons, who pleaded not guilty, would re-appear before the court on June 3.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Patrick Morkeh told the court, presided over by Mr Ebenezer Osei Darko, that at about 0250 hours on April 30, the Madina Police organized a swoop to clamp down on criminals in the area.

He said during the exercise, the accused persons were arrested with the suspected substance.

DSP Morkeh said the accused persons, in their caution statement, denied the offence but the substance had been sent to the forensic laboratory for testing.

Investigation is still ongoing.
