Ghana Premier League: Hearts win big against Chelsea

footballHearts of Oak dented the championship aspirations of Berekum Chelsea in the 26th week league game of the Glo Premier League with 3-0 win at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Hearts, recently on a steady rise after a poor start to the season scored the first goal in the 25th minute through Gilbert Fiamenyo when he headed home a cross from Mahatma Otoo.

Hearts stayed on top of the game and increased the tally in the 41st minute from Fiamenyo who completed a smooth operation between Otoo and Winful Cobbinah to end the half.

Chelsea dominated the early parts of the second half briefly but lost control when Wilson Akakpo was sent off by referee William Agbovi in the 59th minute for a second yellow card.

However Abdul Basit could have reduced the tally for Chelsea in the 65th minute but Reuben Gnagne was on hand to scoop out the ball on the line whilst substitute Obed Ansah was late in connecting Fiamenyo cross in the 71st minute.

Hearts scored the third through Otoo with nine minutes to end proceedings to wrap victory.
