NLA puts 500 Cape Coast residents onto NHIS

NHISThe National Lottery Authority (NLA) on Friday registered more than 500 persons from three communities in the Cape Coast Metropolis under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The beneficiary communities include; Brofoyedur, Siwdu and Kadadwen.

The registration exercise, estimated at GH¢5,000.00 was to support children, the unemployed and the aged.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Director of Special Projects, NLA, George E. Gyamfi-Osew said the exercise formed part of the Authority’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

He expressed dissatisfaction that many residents were not registered with the NHIS due to their inability to pay the required premium.

Mr Gyamfi-Osew observed that quality healthcare was pre-requisite to the advancement of the Region’s developmental needs and expressed the hope that the support given by the NLA would contribute to that agenda.

Scores of people were spotted flocking the centre to be registered.

Some of the elated residents told the GNA they were grateful to the management of NLA for the kind gesture.
