Two killed in attack at Ash Town

policeTwo persons attacked by a gang in Kumasi on Wednesday at about 1400 hours died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), shortly after admission.

Kwadwo Asamoah, alias Gawsu, and Victor Ocran suffered cutlass and gunshot wounds and were taken to the KATH but died later at the hospital.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yussif Tanko, the Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Police Command confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency.

Giving a background to the incident, ASP Tanko said Asamoah was said to have led a gang to attack some persons in the area during the house to house campaign tour of Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Member of Parliament for Manhyia South prior to the 2012 elections.

The attack left some people seriously injured and were admitted at KATH, which the police suspects might be a revenge.

He said the police have been deployed to restore calm in the area whilst investigation is on-going.
