Football referee runs for cover

footballVisiting Medeama on Wednesday forced Asante Kotoko to a goalless drawn game in their Glo-Premier League Day 25 encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The tension-packed match saw referee Silas Okai running for his dear life soon after he brought proceedings to an end as some of the aggrieved home fans pelted him with sachet water for what they claimed to be biased officiating.

Security men on duty at the  Stadium had a hectic time shielding the referee to safety and had to call for reinforcement to prevent the supporters from doing the unthinkable.

On the match itself, it was Kotoko who were more purposeful upfront but wasted the numerous chances created in the first half with Richard Mpong and Michael  Helegbe as worst culprits.

Medeama nearly stunned the homers on the stroke of half time but Tanko Mohammed’s long drive missed the target by inches.

It was not until the latter part of the game that both teams made serious incursions for the needed goals.

Whilst Helegbe wasted a chance in the 85th minute Joseph Gordon also missed for Medeama on the stroke time.
