KATH doctor says hypertension, diabetes high in Ejisu-Juaben

stethoscopeA medical practitioner at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Dr Frank Nketiah-Boakye, has expressed concern about the high incidence of hypertension and diabetics among people in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality.

He said out of 300 people screened on the “May Day”, 45 of them were found to be either diabetic or hypertensive.

Dr Nketiah-Boakye appealed to the people to adopt healthy lifestyles and ensure regular check-up to know their health status.

The free-health screening exercise was organized by the Yaa Asantewaa Rural Bank together with the Ejisu Government Hospital.

Mr Samuel Otoo, the Board Chairman of the Bank, said it was part of their contribution to the society in ensuring that the health of the people is improved adding that people could only be productive when they are healthy.

The exercise was preceded by a health walk through the principal street of Ejisu and those who took part included personnel of the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, nurses, drivers, teachers and traders.
