GNA will explore “hidden fortunes”-Otabil

GNAMr Bernard Otabil, General Manger of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Saturday said the Agency would explore “hidden fortunes” in its news stories to match other news agencies in the World.

“The place of GNA in the Ghanaian media landscape is unchallenged. With a new sense of direction, we can give stories to media houses and individuals, which they cannot, ordinarily get and re-position ourselves comparable to other news agencies such as AP and Reuters,” he said.

Mr Otabil said this when he interacted with staff of the Agency in Ho.

He said in view of media pluralism, the GNA was more relevant than before where “a lot of media organizations need to be fed with credible, objective and accurate news that foster unity.”

Mr Otabil said the Agency was introducing new products such as the GNA Mobile, an on-demand access to news with speed.

There will also be GNA Conferences and events aimed at promoting good governance and socio-economic development.

Mr Otabil urged regional offices of the Agency to be proactive and initiate programmes which could help develop the regions.

He presented two RLG laptops to the Ho office.

Mr Wilhelm Gaitu, Volta Regional Manager of the Agency pledged the preparedness of staff to cooperate with management to transform the fortunes of GNA.

He appealed to the management to organise regular training for staff of the Agency to upgrade their skills to match the new areas management proposes to explore.
