Court fines driver GH¢120 for not respecting Minister’s convoy
The Tarkwa Circuit Court has fined Richard Quansah, a driver GH¢120 for failing to give way to the Western Regional Minister’s convoy at Tamso in the Tarkwa Nsueam Municipality.
The convict pleaded guilty and in default will serve three months imprisonment in hard labour.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that on April 26, the Regional Minister Mr Ebenezer Kwadwo Teye-Addo and other dignitaries were under the escort of three police dispatch riders travelling from Prestea towards Takoradi.
He said on reaching Tamso Township in the Tarkwa Nsueam Municipality the riders signalled all motorists to give way to the convoy but the convict ignored the signal and drove through the convoy, which nearly resulted in an accident.
Chief Inspector Paddy said the convict was arrested and brought to the Tarkwa Police Station for questioning.
He said after investigation the convict was charged with the offense.
