Work begins on Ejisu District Police Headquarters

policeA ceremony has been performed for construction work to begin on a GH¢150, 000.00 new District Police Headquarters at Ejisu.

The project is being jointly funded by the Government of Ghana and the World Bank and is expected to be ready within six months.

Mr Kwaku Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh, Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu-Juaben, said this could not have come at a better time, given the mounting pressure by the owners of the building the police are now occupying to repossess the property.

He said on completion, it would provide a more comfortable and convenient environment for the police to operate.

He used the occasion to pledge the resolve of the assembly to give them every needed support to efficiently discharge their duty of ensuring peace and security in the municipality.

Mr Yamoah Ponkoh praised the police for the good job they are doing and urged them to continue to work hard to rein in hardened criminals in the society.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Simon Afeku, Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, welcomed the project and gave the assembly high marks for providing accommodation for police officers posted to the area.

He appealed to the assemblies to attach importance to security issues since it is only in an environment of peace that they could attract investment.
