Police arrests 88 suspected criminals arrested in Madina

DeportedThe Madina Divisional Police Command on Tuesday arrested 88 suspected criminals; 41 females and 47 males, from their hide outs within the jurisdiction.

The operation, which was led by Superintendent Joseph Owusu Bempah, Acting Divisional Police Commander, was in line with the new vision of the Police Administration and the Greater-Accra Regional Police Command to conduct swoops at criminal hide-outs at the divisional level on regular basis.

Superintendent Bempah, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said   the vision, therefore, compelled the Madina Police Command to mobilize about 65 police personnel to carry out the exercise between 0200 hours and 0700 hours at the various criminal hide outs.

He said the exercise concentrated mainly on the Madina and Kwabenya districts where the 88 suspected criminals were arrested.

Superintendent Bempah said the suspects would be screened and those found culpable would be brought before the law courts for prosecution.

He said during the exercise the police retrieved a double edged machete, a kitchen knife, a pair of scissors, an adaptable implement for inhaling cocaine, a bag of leaves suspected to be Indian-hemp and an unregistered Yahama motorbike.

Superintendent Bempah said the exercise would be sustained until such a time that the jurisdiction was rid of those criminal activities.

Two senior police officers who assisted in the swoop are Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr Charles Ahiamale from Madina and Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr Franklyn Yevugah from Kwabenya
