Election Petition case enters day four

law-and-justiceProceedings on the Election Petition case at the Supreme Court continued on Monday with a continuation of the cross examination of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the second petitioner.

Mr Tony Lithur, Counsel for President John Dramani Mahama who is first Respondent in the case, began the cross examination.

Dr Bawumia at last Thursday’s sitting told the Court that if the December 2012 election result was annulled owing to alleged irregularities Nana Addo-Dankwa Akuffo Addo, flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would win by 58.37 per cent as against 40.29 per cent for John Dramani Mahama.

The other petitioners in the landmark case are Nana Akuffo Addo, flag bearer, and  Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Chairman of the NPP.

The Electoral Commission and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) also constitute the rest of the respondents in the case.

Hearing continues.
