Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, Asantehene, has appealed to the country’s development partners to do more to help address the socio-economic challenges facing the people.

They should focus on providing technical and material support, particularly in the areas of education, agriculture, science and technology, health, and infrastructure development.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu, who was receiving Mr Gene Cretz, the American Ambassador to Ghana to his Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, spoke of the need to expand educational facilities, especially at the tertiary level to admit more students.

He said he found it disheartening, the situation where many otherwise qualified students are denied university education because of inadequate infrastructure.

The Ambassador was there to deepen the strong ties between the Embassy and the Manhyia Palace for the mutual benefit of the people.

The Asantehene spoke of some initiatives and interventions he had introduced, including the “Otumfuo Education Fund”, “Otumfuo Charity Foundation”, and the “Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem Aids Foundation” to improve the lives of the people.

These, he said, had significantly helped to give hope to the underprivileged and invited the Embassy to join in the effort.

Mr. Cretz lauded the Asantehene for his exemplary leadership and expressed readiness to partner him to promote the welfare of the people.

THIS IS WHAT GHANA NEED AND THANKS OTUMFUO FOR HITTING THE NAIL RIGHT ON IT. OUR LEADERS SHOULD BE ASSERTIVE, RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE IN THESE PRIME AREAS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PEOPLE.
