Save Paga-Kayoro road – Chief tells government

untarred roadPe Charles Awampaga II, paramount chief of the Paga traditional area on Monday said the Paga to Kayoro road would face an eminent cut off if nothing was done about its present state.

Pe Awampaga said the main road linking the district capital to the east was terrible and that made travelling from Boania and Nakolo unpleasant.

He also called on government to expedite action on the Banyono Bridge to reduce the travelling distance between these communities and also within the district.

The paramount chief said this in his welcome address to the Upper East Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Limuna Muniru and his Deputy, Mr Daniel Syme when they paid a courtesy call on him at his palace to formally inform him of their arrival to the region to assume duty.

He said development could only be realized if the people in the district had access to good roads to carry out their income earning activities and the payment of taxes and revenue mobilization.

He appealed to government to absorb the only Senior High School in the area built three years ago by the community to ensure that the sacrifice made by volunteer teachers  in the area were not in vain.

Alhaji Muniru thanked the chief and people of the Paga traditional area for the massive support they gave to the NDC. He said as a social democratic party, the needs of the people is very paramount to it, and assured them of government’s  commitment to ensure that the national cake was fairly distributed.

He prayed for wisdom and blessings from the chief to enable him and his deputy to run the affairs of the region successfully.

He also assured them of an open door administration and asked them to call on him when the need arises.
