Court remands cocoa purchasing clerk for theft

prisonMartin Kwakye, a purchasing clerk of the Akuafo Adamfo Marketing Company Limited, has been arrested by the police for stealing  GH¢8,268.00, that had been given to him by his employers to buy cocoa from farmers.

He was on Tuesday put before the Bibiani Circuit Court presided over by Mr Justice Emmanuel Ankamah and pleaded not guilty to the crime.

He was remanded into prison custody to reappear on Tuesday, April 9.

Police Detective Chief Inspector Mike Agalgo told the court that the accused is stationed at the Kwadwo Mensakrom and was given the amount to purchase cocoa for the company during the 2010/2011 main crop season but went into hiding.

A report was made to the police and on March 21 he was arrested.
