Ghana’s badminton team to start preparations for Africa Junior championship

The Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG) would on Friday,March 15, commence preparations for the 2013 All Africa Junior Badminton Championship in Algeria.

The Association has extended invitation to 11 players for the week long preparations for the Championship, fixed for April 14 to 19, in Algeria.

The invited players includes; six males and five females who are expected to be taken through intensive drills at the D.G. Hithramani Sports Hall, Accra Sports Stadium

Abraham Ayitey, Emmanuel Botwe, Mohammed Adams, Lawton Hamitton, Ebenezer Andrews and Richard Aidoo makes up the male team, whilst Stella Amassah, Dina Archer, Grace Atipaka Eunice Arthur and Pearl Mamah completes the female team

According to Ignatius Elletey, the week-long training would be followed by another week of intensive residential camping from Monday, 8th to 13th April, after which they would fly to Algeria.

He said three technical handlers; Frank Shamo, Jacob Evans Wilson and Dr. Kodjo Afadzie Asamoah will conduct the training sessions adding that, they are keen on improving on the skills, stamina and techniques of the players to improve upon the previous performance

In the 2009 Edition held in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, Ghana won Bronze in the Teams Events, One Silver and one Bronze in the Individual Events (Boys Category).
