Catholic Reverend, four others burnt to death

FireFive mourners including Reverend Father Kofi Yeboah of the Abura Dunkwa Catholic Church were burnt to death when a pick-up in which they were travelling from Enyan Aboyerem, caught fire after involving in an accident.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Seth Tay, Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Police Commander, made this known to the Ghana News Agency at the weekend.

He said apart from Rev Fr Yeboah the rest of the dead have not been identified.

According to DSP Tay the deceased were conveying the body of Opanyin James Anderson, 80 who is Uncle of Rev Fr Yeboah from Enyan Aboyerem Mortuary for burial at Agona Abodom when the incidence occurred.

He said the Reverend Father Yeboah who was driving the vehicle, lost control while negotiating a curve, resulting in the pick-up somersaulting twice before it caught fire.

The mortal remains of the mourners are in Cape Coast Hospital Mortuary while the Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

On February 23, mourners were killed instantly when their vehicle collided head-on with a heavy duty tipper truck at Gomoa Mampong.
