Gov’t committed to laptop per child – MCE

ICT_InternetMr Henry Kweku Hayfron, the Municipal Chief Executive, has said the government’s programme to present each child with a laptop is on course.

He said this when he presented 20 schools in the Mfantseman municipality with laptop to enhance teaching and learning of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

The MCE said if drivers would have to be examined on computers before they could be issued with driving licences, then Ghanaians must realise the importance of the equipment.

Mr Hayfron said to make computers accessible, the government had engaged a communication firm, Rlg, to assemble computers in Ghana here and appealed to Ghanaians to patronise locally made computers to encourage the company to produce more.

The MCE urged teachers who were not computer literate to take advantage of the computers provided for the schools to become computer literate.

He urged the schools to take good care of the items to make them last.

Mr Bartholomew Kwame Ofori, the Municipal Director of Education, appealed to teachers and heads of schools not to make the computers decorative pieces but allow pupils to have a feel of them.
