President Mahama swears in 17 Ministers
President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday swore-in 17 Ministers with a caution that Ghanaians would hold all of them responsible for their performance in the country in the coming years.
“You therefore need to work hard and report all your challenges to the powers that be, before they go off hand.”
The 17 Ministers were; Ms Hanny-Sherry Ayitey, Minister for Health, Mr Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, Minister for Youth and Sports, Dr Henry Seidu Danaa, Minister for Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs, Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, Minister for Interior, Mark Owen Woyongo, Minister for Defence and Mr Eric Opoku, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister.
Others are; Nii Armah Ashitey, Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mr Nayon Bilijo, Minister for Fisheries and acquaculture Development, Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, Greater Accra Regional Minster and Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minster.
The rest are; Dr Benjamin Bewa-Nyog Kunbour, Minister for Government Business in Parliament , Haruna Iddrisu, Minister for Trade and Industry, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, Minister for Energy and Petroleum, Mrs Dzifa Aku Ativor, Minister for Transport and Mrs Marrieta Brew Appiah Opong, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Communications.
President Mahama who gave the caution at the Flagstaff House, Kanda, appealed to the Ministers not to shift blames on the bureaucrats and technocrats, but rather build relations that would ensure faster growth and development in their various ministries and sectors.
“Do not pass blames to technocrats, but work hand in hand with them to realize your development objectives.”
Dr Kunbour on behalf of his colleagues pledged to work hard to justify the confidence the President and the entire country had reposed in them.
