GMA strike: Ridge Hospital doctors treating only emergency cases

stethoscopeSome Medical Doctors at the Ridge Hospital in Accra said on Monday only emergency cases reported were being treated.

This action was in line with the  directive issued by the Ghana Medical Association(GMA) to its National Executive Committee and Divisional Chairmen to withdraw all out-patient clinical services throughout the country.

The Doctors, who spoke on condition of anonymity to the Ghana News Agency(GNA), said they had no option than to obey the order from the authorities.

“As you can see am working” one female Doctor stated.

Afi Dzokoto, a patient said that she reported at the hospital at 10am had been waiting to be attended to as at 12 12pm when the GNA met her.

William Agyapong, who accompanied his brother to the hospital, expressed optimism that his brother would be attended to on time.

The GMA had issued a press statement directing its members to withdraw all out-patient services from Monday 11th February 2013.

The executive is said to be locked up in the meeting by 1700 hours on Monday, February 11, 2013.
