Nigeria took home their third Nations Cup after securing a 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso at the grand finale of the 2013 AFCON on Sunday February 10, 2013 at the Soccer City in Johannesburg.

The Super Eagles’ goal came from a Sunday Mba left strike after he flicked the ball over a Burkinabe defender five minutes before the end of the first-half.

Nigeria last won the trophy in 1994 where their current coach, Stephen Keshi, was the captain of the side.

Keshi now becomes the second African to lift the trophy both as a coach and a player. The first was Egypt’s Mahmoud Al Gohari

“Winning this tournament is mainly for my nation,” Keshi said, reports the ESPN.

“When I came on board a year-and-a-half ago, my dream is to make all Nigerians happy,” he added.
