Court jails student two years for stealing mobile phone

jailThe Akim Swedru Circuit Court in Birim South District has sentenced Abdulah Tanko, a student to two years imprisonment for stealing a mobile phone worth GH¢120.00.

Tanko was convicted on his own plea of unlawful entry and stealing.

Presenting the facts of the case to the Court presided over by Mr Yaw Atta Sampong, Police Chief Inspector Kingsley Kwaku Antwi said Mr Francis Tetteh, a phone repairer also the complainant lives at Akim Oda while Tanko is a student of a technical school at Akim Oda.

He said at about 1230 hours on January 17, Mr Tetteh was at his shop repairing phones when Tanko entered to steal a Nokia digital camara phone under the pretext of looking for something.

The prosecutor said Mr Tetteh raised the alarm when Tanko entered his shop to steal again and  lodged a complaint with the Police leading to the arrest of the convict.
