Anlo State offers 11 students scholarships

GraduationThe Anlo Educational Trust fund (AETF) has giving scholarship to 11 fresh and continuing senior high school (SHS) students.

The beneficiary schools are Anloga SHS, Keta SHS, Dabala SHS and Afiadenyigba SHS.

The fund which was established a year ago, by one V.P.Y. Gadzekpor is aimed at supporting the education of the brilliant but less privileged in the society.

It also includes physically challenge persons who are being supported to pursue their academic career from the basic to the tertiary level.

Mr Sylvester Tornyeavah, Keta Municipal Chief Executive, who addressed the ceremony in Keta called on the beneficiaries to eschew truancy and should be disciplined in pursuit of their careers.

He expressed concern about the falling standards of education in the Anlo State, which he said was due to the lack of effective monitoring of students performance by teachers and parents.

Mr Tornyeavah, asked parents and teachers to enlighten students on the need to embrace information, communication and technology in their studies in order to be professionally equipped for the job market.

Mr Gadzekpor, Founder and Chairperson of the Fund appealed to the beneficiaries to take their learning seriously in order to maintain the legacy established by their forefathers for the sake of posterity.

Mrs Bridget Katsriku, Member of the AETF advised the students to be committed to their studies and undertake research activities to enhance their knowledge power.

She called on the female beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme to concentrate on their education and abstain from promiscuity.

Togbe Sri III, Paramount Chief of Anlo called on the people to support the fund to achieve its set goals.
