President Mahama seeks public-private partnership to fulfill campaign promises
President John Dramni Mahama on Friday gave the assurance that government would fulfill all the campaign promises it made to maintain the confidence Ghanaians had reposed in the ruling National Democratic Congress.
“These political promises would be fulfilled through public-private partnership to ensure economic growth and infrastructural development that would pave way for massive investment and job creation,” he said.
President Mahama gave this assurance when he interacted with members of the Diplomatic Corps at the Peduase Lodge in the Eastern Region.
Various Presidents had over the years had similar interactions with diplomats to exchange ideas and experiences.
The occasion was attended by former President Jerry John Rawlings, party functionaries, and career diplomats.
President Mahama said Ghana had again demonstrated her trail blazing role in the continent by peacefully coming out of two major issues in 2012.
He explained that the death of President John Evans Atta Mills, the transition and the organisation of the 2012 general election were trying moments that Ghana had passed with distinction, deepening the democratic credentials of the country for posterity.
The President however attributed the feat to the extensive contribution and active performance of Civil Society Organisations and the National Peace Council that had drummed home messages of peace and unity to dissuade Ghanaians from engaging in negative tendencies that could undermine the orderly progress of the country.
President Mahama said government had prioritised development projects on education, health, housing, water and information, communication and technology and would not renege on those promises.
“Government will also exhibit good governance with professionalism, humility, civility, rule of law and strict adherence to human rights.
He urged all sectors to play their roles meaningfully to achieve national goals in the next four years.
Mr Sini Pierre Sanou, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps commended Ghana for a peaceful and successful election and for the country’s participation in conferences that deliberated on restoring peace to Mali, Democratic Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic.
He appealed to President Mahama to maintain all the diplomatic values that Ghana has had with other countries over the years to create a congenial atmosphere for effective collaboration and mutual benefit.
