A brace from midfielder Mubarak Wakaso made Ghana secure a 2-0 win over Cape Verde at the quarter-finals at the ongoing 2013 Nations Cup, despite a lackluster performance by the Stars.

The win sends Ghana to the semi-final stage of the competition giving the country a record four straight semis since 2008.

Wakaso’s first goal was a penalty kick awarded to Ghana after Asamoah Gyan was fouled.

The Espanyol player’s second goal was when he picked the ball from the centre line to score at the latter end of the game after Cape Verde’s goalkeeper joined the attack when they had a corner kick.

But the superb performance of the goalkeeper, Abdul Fatau Dauda saved the day for Ghana as he stood between the Blue Sharks and goals with an outstanding performance throughout the game, setting him up for the Man-of-the-Match for this game, which he convincingly won.

Wakaso and Solomon Asante, the Goalkeeper were the best, Gyan and the rest of the team play poorly with too many yellow cards which was unnecessary. The European bunch had poorly and horrible passes like local second division team. Cape Verde was excellent to but had poor excution of the balls
