President John Mahama has appointed the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, to act as IGP.

This is after the President gave approval for Mr Paul Tawiah Quaye to commence his compulsory 90-day terminal leave as the IGP, according to a February 1, 2013 statement signed by the President’s Executive Secretary Dr. Raymond Atuguba.

“Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, Deputy Inspector General of Police, is to act as Inspector General of Police until further notice,” the statement said.

Mr Quaye’s terminal leave will be effective February 5, 2013.
